Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku has hinted he’ll leave the club in the transfer window after predicting it will be a ‘busy summer’.
The Belgian lost his place to Marcus Rashford when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as interim boss in December and he’s been told he’s surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Inter Milan are keen on signing Lukaku after long-term admirer Antonio Conte made the Belgian his first choice transfer target.
However, while United are open to selling, the Red Devils’ £75m valuation of the striker is proving difficult for Inter to meet.
‘I’ll speak with my club and my agent Federico Pastorello to make the best decision,’ said Lukaku, after Belgium’s 3-0 win against Scotland. ‘I am going to enjoy my holidays with my family now. I know what I’ll do, but won’t say it. We’ll see .Do I expect a busy summer? Yes.’
Lukaku scored twice as Belgium breezed past Scotland in a Euro 2020 qualifier in Brussels.
The forward’s form with his country is in stark contrast to that of his club and Roberto Martinez believes it’s been a long time since the former Everton star ‘enjoyed’ the game.
‘I just feel sometimes a bit sad when I don’t see Rom enjoying his football,” Martinez said. ‘When he enjoys his football he’s a lethal goalscorer.’
